I got a little ahead of myself… but hey, live and learn.
When I started this newsletter, I was a little overzealous. I thought, how hard is it to publish two newsletters a week, weekly writing prompts, and a Question every day of the week?
As a content marketing strategist, I thought, I do this for a living - why couldn’t I do it for myself?
I had just moved to a new state, set up my business, launched a new website, and started marketing my personal branding and content coach services.
Then I got busy with client work, and I quickly realized that I needed to set the bar slightly lower for myself with this newsletter.
So, first of all, thank you to my loyal subscribers for your patience, (the few dozen I have accumulated since I started). I appreciate the grace you have shown me through this learning curve.
Second, I hope you like the new format. For now, I plan on producing two newsletters a month as opposed to 8 - 10, (details below), but that may change depending on my bandwidth.
Finally, I believe that quality trumps quantity, so even though the frequency will be less, my goal is to offer my readers higher-quality content.
A few other notable changes include:
Weekly writing prompts instead of daily
A Question of the Week instead of a Question of the Day
My Mission
My mission of supporting emerging writers and the writing community has not changed, so if you are interested in helping me accomplish this, please consider a paid subscription. Through March 31, 2023, you can get 10% off your annual subscription ($45/year).
My goal is still to reach 500 paid subscribers by the end of 2023 and the majority of those proceeds will go towards writing contests, scholarships, and other opportunities for up-and-coming writers. This will result in $5,000 being given back to the writing community.
What you can expect as a FREE subscriber.
E-newsletters
I publish two newsletters a month for FREE subscribers. I used to publish two per week, but I found that next to impossible to keep up with. Now, I publish two newsletters a month (on the second and fourth Thursday of each month) and occasionally, if something is time sensitive, I post in between.
Weekly Writing Prompts
Every Monday, I publish a weekly writing prompt that you can use to fire up your creative juices.
Question of the Day #QOTW
Every Friday, I publish the #QOTW to my Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts, so there are multiple ways to participate in the discussion. Answer the question in the thread post on Substack or participate on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Reader Polls
I love and appreciate my audience, so I regularly poll my readers to see what topics they want me to cover. The monthly poll comes out on the last Friday of every month.
Once you are done reading this email, head over to the website to participate in the latest poll.
Some Housekeeping…
If you can’t find the newsletter, check your spam folder. And please mark this address as ‘not spam.’
If the newsletter isn’t in your spam folder, either, you should look in the Promotions tab.
As a free subscriber, you will receive my weekly newsletter and be able to access all public posts on the website.
Upgrade to Paid
Frequent Starts is a reader-supported publication. Thank you for supporting my work. To receive exclusive offers, content, and membership opportunities, consider becoming a paid subscriber.
Why Upgrade?
I’m an educator at heart with a background in teaching and mentoring aspiring writers and artists who want to build a creative business that they love. I am leading by example.
A portion of your subscription will go towards funding writing contests, scholarships, and other opportunities for writers and artists.
My goal is to hit 500 paid annual subscribers by the end of 2023!
Here is how the kick-back will work:
500 annual subscriptions OR $25K in revenue - 20% of revenue donated or $5000
1K annual subscriptions OR $50K in revenue - 25% of revenue donated or $12,500
2K annual subscriptions OR $100K in revenue - 30% of revenue donated or $30K
5K annual subscriptions OR $250K in revenue - 35% of revenue donated or $87.5K
10K annual subscriptions OR $500K in revenue - 50% of revenue donated or $250K
As you can see, the more subscriptions Frequent Starts (FQRS) receive the more contests, scholarships, and opportunities for writers we can provide.
So please, share my publication and my mission with your friends - at $50 a year it really isn’t that much money to support the writing community.
